Rehearsal dinner RSVP

Know who comes to the rehearsal, what they eat and who will give a toast.

What's inside

Guests who come say whether they join the rehearsal or only dinner, pick a main, flag dietary needs, ask for a ride back and tell you if they'd like to give a toast.

Planning the night before

The rehearsal dinner is smaller than the wedding: the wedding party, close family and anyone traveling far. Send this two to three weeks before, separate from the main RSVP, so it reaches only the people invited.

The rehearsal and dinner question matters for timing. People in the ceremony need to be at the venue for the walk-through; partners and family can join at the restaurant. Share the two times in the intro.

Toasts run long when nobody plans them. The toast question gives you the list in advance, so you can set an order and a time limit before the evening starts.

A ride back matters when the dinner is away from the hotel. Count the yes answers and book a car or a shuttle the week before.

Rehearsal dinner RSVP questions

Who is usually invited to the rehearsal dinner?

The wedding party, both families, the officiant and often guests who traveled far. It is your list to make; the form works for eight people or forty. Partners of the wedding party and the parents of a flower girl or ring bearer are the guests most often missed. Traditionally the groom's family hosts, though many couples now split it or host themselves.

Can I change the menu?

Yes. Rename the three mains or add more in your copy. The question stays hidden from guests who decline, whatever the dishes are called. Ask the restaurant when it needs the final order, often a week before, and put that date in the intro as your reply-by date. Send the dietary answers to the kitchen together with the count for each main.

How do I see who wants to give a toast?

Each reply shows the toast answer in its own column. Export the replies and keep the rows that say “Yes, a short one”: that is your running order. Many hosts put the parents first and leave the couple's own thank-you for last. If more than five people say yes, ask a few to save their words for the reception.
