Group bike ride sign-up

Riders pick a route by distance, and the ride leader knows who is on which.

What's inside

Each route holds 20 riders and shows what's left; first-timers are asked whether they can fix a flat, and the form closes when all three routes are full.

A club ride where nobody gets dropped

Post the link on Wednesday for a Sunday ride. Most riders decide on Friday night after checking the forecast.

Twenty riders per route is two groups of ten, each with its own leader. A group of 20 on one road is hard to keep safe at junctions.

Put pace in the route name, like social or fast, so a rider chooses by effort and not only by distance. E-bike riders often pick a longer route, which is fine.

The flat question tells you who to ride next to. Put a first-timer who can't fix a flat in a group with a leader carrying a pump.

Group ride questions

Can I use it for a weekly ride?

Duplicate the form each week and change the date in the intro. Each copy keeps its own riders, which shows who rides most often by the end of the season. Close last week's form when you share the new one, so nobody joins a ride that already happened. If rain cancels a ride, text the riders from the phone numbers in the replies.

Do riders need to sign a waiver?

Many clubs ask once a year, not every ride. If your club or insurer needs one, add a checkbox with their exact wording. This template only confirms the helmet rule. Make the checkbox required so nobody joins without agreeing. If minors ride with you, add an age question and show a parent or guardian question only to riders under 18.

What if a route doesn't fill?

Ride it anyway with the riders you have, or merge it with the next route at the cafe stop. The replies tell you by Saturday night. If you merge, text the riders on that route on Saturday with the new distance and pace, so nobody arrives expecting a shorter ride. A small group can still ride its own route if one rider knows the way and carries a pump.
