Virtual race results form
Runners submit their time, distance and proof screenshot, and you build the leaderboard.
What's inside
Every runner uploads a screenshot from their watch or app with their time; runners who want a medal mailed give an address, and the rest skip it.

Running a virtual race people trust
Open the results form on race weekend and close it on Sunday night. A clear window keeps the leaderboard fair.
A screenshot from a watch or running app shows distance and time on one screen. Check the ones near the top of the leaderboard; most times are honest.
Ask for time as hours, minutes and seconds, like 00:52:30. Sorting is easier when everyone uses the same format.
Finish photos make the best follow-up post: a grid of runners in their own cities. For bigger photo collections, see the file upload form.
Virtual race results questions
What if a runner has no watch or app?
Ask for a photo of a treadmill screen, or a time from a friend with a stopwatch. Note it next to their result; for a charity fun run that's usually enough. The screenshot question is required, so they upload the treadmill photo or a note from the timer there. Free running apps on most phones record distance and time, so suggest one before race weekend.
Where do bib numbers come from?
From your registration list. Send each runner their number by email before race weekend, or let them print a bib with it. The bib question is required, so a runner who lost their number can't skip it. Tell them in the intro to check the registration email, and match any doubtful entry by name when you build the leaderboard.
Do I have to mail medals?
Only if you promised them. Runners choose, so you mail medals only to the ones who want one and keep the rest for an in-person meetup. The address question shows only for runners who pick mail. Count those answers after the form closes on Sunday night and order envelopes and postage for that exact number. Shipping abroad costs more, so say if you mail within one country only.
