Surprise party RSVP

Make sure everyone is hidden before the guest of honor walks in, and keep it quiet.

What's inside

Guests who are in confirm they can arrive before the guest of honor; anyone running late must say roughly when. A headcount and the gift chip-in follow, and everyone can write a line to read out.

Keeping the surprise

Send the link only to people you trust with the secret, and never in a group chat the guest of honor is in. Write the arrival time and the cover story in the intro, so nobody has to ask in public.

Arrival is the whole plan. The form asks every guest whether they can be there before the guest of honor, and anyone who'll be late gives a time, so you can tell them to wait outside until the moment has passed.

The gift question tells you how many people share the cost before you buy. Divide the price by the yes answers and send one number to everyone.

Collect the lines to read out ahead of time and pick a reader. For a milestone birthday, ask for memories instead.

Surprise party questions

Can the guest of honor find the form?

Only through the link. Form links are kept out of search engines, and nothing is posted anywhere you don't share it. Send it privately and the secret stays with the guests. If the guest of honor shares an email or a tablet with a partner, text the link instead. Once the party is over, close the form so a forwarded link no longer opens it.

What if a guest can only come late?

They choose “I'll be a little late” and the form asks roughly when, before the reply can be sent. Plan for them to slip in after the surprise. Their times appear in your replies, so on the day text them a short note, like park on Elm Street and come in after 8, so their headlights don't give the game away.

Can I change the arrival time?

Yes. Edit the intro and the arrival question in your copy. The late-time question keeps showing for the late answer whatever the time says. If the plan changes after you've shared the link, edit the same form rather than making a new one. The link stays the same, and guests who already replied should get a short text with the new time.
