Sleepover party RSVP

Parents choose the whole night or evening only, and leave a number and allergies before the night.

What's inside

Overnight and evening-only guests both leave a phone and allergies; evening only asks for a pickup time, and overnight asks who needs a sleeping bag.

Running a calm sleepover

Send the link to parents, not the kids, about two weeks before. Parents decide on overnights, and they're the ones you'll call at 2 am.

Evening only is the option that saves the night. Younger kids and first-timers often want the party without the sleep, and a pickup time means you're not waiting by the door at 9:40.

Allergies matter twice at a sleepover: dinner and breakfast. Read the answers before you buy pizza and pancake mix, and note anything for bedtime, like an inhaler or a night light.

Count sleeping bags from the replies. Two please-lend answers means borrowing from a neighbor before Friday, not at 10 pm.

Sleepover RSVP questions

Why ask the parent and the child separately?

Parents give the yes for the night and hold the phone you'll need at 2 am. The child's own name keeps your guest list in kids' names, and the thank-you greets the child. On the morning of the party, the list matches each kid to a parent's phone at a glance, which helps when two children share a first name.

Can some kids come for the evening only?

Yes. Every family sees both choices and picks one. To keep the night small, write in the intro which friends are invited to stay over, and the rest choose evening only. Evening guests give a pickup time, so you can plan the movie to end before the first car pulls up.

What if a child wants to go home at night?

Their parent's number is in the reply, so you call the right person in seconds. Mention in the intro that late pickups are fine, which makes nervous first-timers more likely to say yes. Agree in the intro on a time after which you won't call, like 11 pm, so parents know whether to keep the phone on loud or expect a morning update.
