Brunch RSVP

Guests pick their eggs and drink ahead, so you cook once instead of taking orders at the stove.

What's inside

A yes picks eggs and a drink and says what to leave off the plate; a no gets its own goodbye.

Cooking brunch once

Send the link a week before. Brunch is easy to say yes to and easy to forget, so a reminder the evening before helps.

Cook eggs in batches by style. Scrambled for six goes in one pan, poached go in together, and fried come last so they're hot.

Mimosa votes set the bubbly. One 750 ml bottle makes six to eight mimosas, so ten votes means two bottles and a spare.

Read the leave-off answers before you shop. Pancake batter, bacon and the fruit bowl are where gluten, meat and allergies hide.

Brunch RSVP questions

How much food do I need per guest?

Plan two or three pancakes, two eggs and a handful of fruit per guest. The egg answers give you the exact count, so buy to it plus half a dozen. Guests who pick no eggs still eat, so add an extra pancake for each of them. A brunch for twelve usually needs about two kilos of fruit and a large bottle of syrup.

Can I change the menu?

Yes. Rename eggs to waffle toppings or bagel fillings, and drinks to coffee orders. Three or four options per question keeps the shopping list clear. Keep a none option in each list, like no eggs for me, so guests who skip a dish still have something to pick. The leave-off question is a free text box, so it fits any menu as it is.

Should I offer a mocktail?

Yes. Some guests drive, some are pregnant, some don't drink before noon. Orange juice with sparkling water and a splash of grenadine looks as good as a mimosa. Serve it in the same flutes so nobody's glass stands out. A 1.5 liter jug pours about six glasses, so one jug covers every six mocktail votes.
