Assigning garden plots fairly

Open applications in January, when people plan their seeds. Beds fill in the order replies arrive, which is easy to explain at the meeting.

Workdays keep the shared paths, compost and tool shed in shape. Asking for two dates up front means nobody is surprised in June.

Pair each first-time gardener with a mentor who has a bed nearby. Mentored beds are far less likely to be weeds by August.

Garden plot application questions

What happens when all the beds are taken?

Each size shows as full at twelve, and the form closes after 24 applications. To keep a waiting list, raise the limit and tell late applicants they are on it in the thank-you text. Beds often free up in spring when a gardener moves or gives up. Offer each one to the next name on the list, in the order replies came in.

How do gardeners pay the season fee?

Outside the form. Email confirmed gardeners your payment details or collect cash at the first workday. Fillio never handles the money. Put the fee and its due date in the intro too, so applicants know the cost before they apply.

Can returning gardeners keep their bed?

Send them the form two weeks before you share it publicly, and ask for their bed number in the grow question or a new short question. Their replies count toward the same limits, so the beds they keep come off the totals. When you open it to everyone, new applicants see only the sizes still free.
