Block party RSVP

Neighbors reply by household and offer a table, a grill or a hand.

What's inside

A household that says yes gives its headcount; one that can't come gets its own goodbye, and everyone can still offer a table or help.

Running a block party from one link

Most towns ask for a street closure permit two to six weeks ahead. Send the RSVP after the permit comes through, so the date in your intro is final.

The house number turns replies into a map. You see which end of the street is coming and which doors to knock on with a flyer.

The offer list is where the party gets built. Five folding tables and two grills from neighbors save a rental bill. Tape a QR code to mailboxes for neighbors you don't have numbers for.

Block party RSVP questions

Why reply by household instead of by person?

One adult answers for the whole house, with a headcount that includes kids. You get one reply per door, which is how you plan food and chairs for a street. The headcount takes up to ten per house. Plan about half a pound of meat per adult at the grill, plus a little extra for neighbors who turn up without replying.

Can neighbors who can't come still help?

Yes. The offer list is asked of everyone, so a family away that weekend can still lend a table. Their end message thanks them and says you'll be in touch. Message them the week before to arrange a handover, since a grill or a speaker from an empty house needs a key or a drop-off time.

How do I share it with the whole street?

Post the link in your street's group chat or neighborhood app, and leave a printed QR code in mailboxes. Neighbors reply from their phone without an account. Put a reply date in the intro, about ten days before the party, so you have numbers in time to order food and book the bouncy castle.
