Meal train sign-up

Friends claim one evening each, so the family never gets three lasagnas on one night.

What's inside

Each evening takes one cook and shows as taken once claimed; the form closes when all seven are covered. Friends who send delivery say from where, and everyone confirms the family's food rules before they claim.

Running a meal train

Ask the family three things before you send the link: what they don't eat, how many people eat, and where meals should be left. Put all three in the intro, since that is where people look.

Start with one week. Most families need help most in the first two weeks after a birth or a hospital stay; if they still want meals, duplicate the form with the next week's dates.

A drop-off spot, a cooler on the porch or a neighbor's door, lets the family rest instead of hosting visitors at dinner time. Ask for containers they can keep.

The dish answers show you the week at a glance, so you can nudge the fourth pasta toward a soup. For new parents, pair it with a sip and see so friends can meet the baby on a set afternoon.

Meal train questions

What happens when an evening is taken?

It shows as taken and can't be picked again, so each night has exactly one cook. When all seven are claimed, the form closes and says so. If someone has to drop out, ask them to tell you directly. Then raise that evening's limit and the closing number by one in the editor, so another friend can claim it.

Can I use it after a surgery or a loss?

Yes. Change the title and the intro. The form works the same for a recovery, a bereavement or a busy family moment. After a loss, keep the intro short and practical, with the drop-off spot and the food rules, and change the end screen so it fits the moment. Put the household size in the intro so cooks fill in servings correctly.

Can two people share an evening?

Set that evening's places to two, or let one person claim it and bring a friend. Raise the closing number to match. Both phone numbers are in the replies, so you can put the two cooks in touch to split the main and the dessert.
