Cover and Logo

A band of image or colour across the top of the form, and a round mark beneath it. Two decisions, and the form stops looking like a default.

Adding them

Add cover and Add logo sit above the form title in the editor, dimmed until you go near them. Neither opens a dialog: pressing one drops a placeholder in immediately (a flat band for the cover, a dark disc for the logo) so the layout settles before you have chosen anything.

Both placeholders are mixed from the form's own theme, so they belong to the page from the first frame. Click the cover's Change cover control, or the logo disc itself, to open the picker.

Both carry through to the public form and to an embedded copy of it. What sits on the editor canvas is what a respondent sees.

The picker

The cover picker opens on three tabs. The logo picker offers only the first, because a logo is your own file rather than something to be found.

Upload

Drag a file onto the panel or browse for one. Any image format your browser can read, up to 10 MB, with a progress bar while it goes up.

Stock Photos

Search Unsplash without leaving the editor. The tab opens on a popular set and re-runs the search shortly after you stop typing.

Color

Eight swatches mixed from your form's theme: two strengths of the accent, two neutrals and four hue-shifted cousins. On a dark theme they come back as deep tones rather than pastels.

Delete in the picker's header removes the cover or logo you already have and closes the panel.

Repositioning the cover

The cover band is a 220-pixel-tall crop of a much larger picture, and the part worth showing is rarely dead centre. Reposition appears beside Change cover once a photo cover is in place; press it and drag the image up or down.

The drag is damped: dragging the full height of the band moves the frame about a third of the way, so the crop lands where you meant rather than where your hand stopped.

Save position re-cuts the image at the new frame and stores it; Cancel puts the previous crop back. Repositioning is offered only while the full-size original is available, which Fillio fetches quietly in the background when you reopen a form.

What happens to your file

Everything happens in your own browser before anything is uploaded. Nothing is sent at full size and no server-side conversion is involved.

Compress

The picture is scaled down to at most 2,400 px on its longest side and re-encoded. If the result comes out larger than the file you started with, your file is kept exactly as it was.

Keep the original

That scaled original is stored alongside the cover. It is the copy every later reposition is cut from.

Crop

The band itself is written at 1920 × 440, twice the 220-pixel display height, so it stays sharp on a retina screen.

Logo

A logo is scaled to at most 400 × 400 and shown as a 100-pixel disc.

PNG files are resized but not re-encoded, so transparency survives. GIF and SVG are left completely alone. Everything else is written out as JPEG.

Tip

A hidden question is skipped when the page is validated, so a required question that a rule has hidden can never block a submission.
