Carnival group sign-up
Revelers join the bloco, pick an abadá size and claim a rehearsal spot.
What's inside
Revelers give a WhatsApp number and an abadá size and claim a rehearsal from the places left; drummers name their instrument. The sign-up closes when both rehearsals are full.

Organizing a bloco
Open sign-ups six to eight weeks before Carnival. Abadás take time to print, and rehearsals usually start in January.
Order abadás from the size counts the day sign-ups close, with a few extra M and L. Hand them out at rehearsal, so you know who actually turns up.
Each rehearsal takes 60 people. Change the numbers to your space, and the form closes on its own when both are full.
The bateria answers tell your mestre how many surdos, caixas and tamborins to expect, and where the gaps are, weeks before the first beat.
Carnival sign-up questions
What is an abadá?
It is the shirt each member of a bloco or Carnival group wears, usually printed with the group's name. It lets the group recognize its own in the crowd. Some blocos sell the abadá to cover the band and the sound truck. If yours does, put the price and how to pay in the intro, since Fillio takes no payments, and check names against the responses list when you hand shirts out.
Can I use it for a comparsa or a Caribbean carnival band?
Yes. Rename abadá to costume or T-shirt, and the bateria to your band or section. The rehearsal places work the same way. Change the 60 places to fit your hall or park. To add a third date, add it as a new option with its own limit and raise the response limit to match. For a mas band, give each costume section a capacity, so the most popular one can't fill past what you've ordered.
Why ask for WhatsApp?
Carnival plans change by the hour: route, meeting point, weather. A WhatsApp group is how most blocos reach everyone at once. Each number sits next to the member's name in the responses list, so you can add people to the group in batches as they sign up. Start the group the day sign-ups open, so nobody waits weeks to hear about the first rehearsal.
