Bar and bat mitzvah RSVP

Guests reply for the service and the party, and teens are counted for the kids' room.

What's inside

Guests who come tick the service, the party or both and count the adults. Only party guests are asked about kids and teens and kosher meals, so service-only guests answer two questions and are done.

Planning replies for a bar or bat mitzvah

Send the link six to eight weeks before, alongside or instead of a printed reply card, and set the deadline three weeks out. Caterers and venues for the party usually need final numbers about two weeks ahead.

Many guests come to one event only. Friends from school often come just to the party, and some community members just to the service, so separate counts keep you from paying for empty seats.

The kids' and teens' count sizes the separate room many families set up, with its own food, games or a DJ. Ask about kosher meals even when the menu isn't kosher, so observant guests get a sealed meal.

Guests who keep Shabbat won't use their phones on Saturday, so set the reply date well before the weekend. Print the words for the child into a book for the reception table.

Bar and bat mitzvah RSVP questions

Can I use it for a b'nai mitzvah or for twins?

Yes. Change the title and the names in the intro and messages. The questions work the same for one child or two. For twins, rename the words question so guests know they can write to both, or add a second message field, one per child. If the twins hold separate services, duplicate the form and send each copy to its own guests.

What if the party is on Sunday?

Rename the party option and change the date in the intro. The kids' room and meal questions still show only to party guests. A Sunday party lets guests who keep Shabbat drive and use their phones that day, so more of them can join. If the party is at a different place from the service, put both addresses in the intro.

Can I ask for a meal choice instead of kosher?

Yes. Replace the kosher question with your menu choices; it stays visible only to guests coming to the party. Caterers want a count for each dish, so offer two or three mains plus a kids' meal. Add a short field for allergies too, since a party full of teens often brings nut and gluten needs.
